Here at Redeemer Arlington church, we are asked to pray daily for one Life Change Offering Project throughout the month and to collect “pocket-change,” twenty-five cents or more a day. Consider the impact that modest but consistent giving can have to support the spreading of the Gospel message. Then on the first Sunday of the month, we bring our offering to the basket, immediately after the regular offering is collected. The April offering will be going to the Presbyterian & Reformed Commission on Chaplains.

The service of Tenebrae, meaning "darkness" or "shadows," has been practiced by the church since medieval times. Once a service for the monastic community, Tenebrae later became an important part of the worship of the common folk during Holy Week. We join Christians of many generations throughout the world in using the liturgy of Tenebrae.

Tenebrae is a prolonged meditation on Christ's suffering. Readings trace the story of Christ's passion, music portrays his pathos, and the power of silence and darkness suggests the drama of this momentous event. As lights are extinguished, we ponder the depth of Christ's suffering and death; we remember the cataclysmic nature of his sacrifice.

Please make mark your calendars and make plans to attend a brief congregational meeting immediately following the worship service. This meeting is being held to vote on the proposed by-law changes presented at the February 22nd meeting.

The Mission Mobilizers monthly meeting. We meet to pray for our supported missionaries and discuss any issues needed to assist them.

Redeemer is sponsoring the Hope Russia Angel Tree to benefit the Hope Russia pastors and their families. Our goal is to collect around $1,500 to be split among the Hope Russia families. We will be collecting donations through December 21st. Because we are required to mail the funds to Hope Russia, it is really important that we receive all donations by December 21st so we can make sure the funds can be distributed to the Pastors by Christmas.  It is such a privilege to bless our brothers and sisters in Russia. Please continue to lift them up in your prayers as they strive to shine the light of Christ in a very dark place.
